Aymara Transverse - Traverse Flute II - Bone Mouthpiece & Deluxe Case
The traditional Andean traverse flute is the predecessor of the Boehm flute and is an extremely popular instrument among the indigenous tribes of South America. It’s warm tones are widely used in many areas of traditional Peruvian music.
Made from various materials including bamboo, bone and other rare woods such as Jacaranda and Wayacan, the traverse flute has a musical span of 3 octaves and is constructed with either a plain or bone mouth piece.
These professional traverse flutes are exceptional instruments made from Bolivian Jacaranda, a beautiful wood native to South America and were created by a professional Bolivian musician, composer and luthier who has been making instruments, playing and touring South America for over 30 years.
The precision instruments he makes in his workshop are renown around the world.
As with the charangos, classical guitars and all other instruments sold on this site, these flutes are of exceptional quality and should not be confused with other South American souvenir type tourist flutes of substandard quality. Such instruments are manufactured on mass with no attention to sound quality and tuning.
These traverse flutes are precision concert tuned to the scale of Sol Major (G) / Mi minor (Em)
Measuring approx. 19.5 inches long and 0.8 inches wide, these really are beautiful instruments, each encompassing their own individual characteristics.

These particular pan pipes are of the Malta type and are comprised of 15 bamboo tubes of varying lengths, fashioned in a single curved row making them much easier to play than many other styles of zampona.
The longest pipe measures 13.5 inches with a diameter of 0.75 of an inch.
This instrument is tuned to the key of Sol Major (G) and it’s relative Mi minor (Em). It’s deep vibrations produce a truly beautiful sound that captures the spirit of the Andean people in a timeless harmony.

Andean Pan Pipes - Pan Flutes - Zampona - Malta - 15 Note
The pan pipe, also known as the pan flute or zampona is probably one of the most well known traditional musical instruments of the Andes.
Played by the indigenous Andean tribes people for countless generations, these beautiful instruments come in many shapes and sizes and vary in name depending on the particular regions they come from.
Known by the Quechua tribes as the antara, by the Aymara as the the siku or zampolla, and more commonly referred to as the Spanish zampona, these handmade Bolivian panpipes are the genuine article and produce a beautiful sound reminiscent of their ancestral heritage and worthy of concert performance.
As with all the instruments here on Original Artisan, the zamponas you see here are professional instruments and should not be confused with cheaper tourist grade pan pipes sold in Peruvian markets and other internet trinket sites.

Faults Dents & Abrasions
This charango has no conspicuous dents, faults or abrasions and is a lovely looking instrument. The lower V shaped edges of the mother of pearl, although varnished and beautifully smooth, does appear to have a slightly rough edge under the varnish. There are also two white coloured markings shown on the back of the neck, again these are perfectly smooth and also under the varnish. Purely minor cosmetic issues that have no effect on the sound or playability of this instrument.
Grain and wood markings shown in the photos are all natural and help form the instrument’s character and personality. When viewed in person throughout your trial period (and also under guarantee), this instrument’s beauty will become clear.
